The privately owned Norwegian shipping group Tschudi Shipping Company AS (TSC), has formed a new container line called Tschudi Lines North Sea AS which will commence operations in the European North Sea on September 7.

A 374TEU, 1991-built vessel, the Elegance, has been chartered and will call at the Norwegian ports of Drammen, Moss and Larvik, the UK port of Immingham and the Dutch port of Rotterdam.

Initially the line will operate with one vessel on a weekly schedule, catering for door/door and shippers’ own containers.

TSC already operates container services in the North Sea with its Estonian-based subsidiary Teco Lines between Finland (Helsinki), Holland (Rotterdam) and the UK (Felixstowe).

The Norwegian market is extremely competitive and the new line will have to fight for a share of the market against established players DFDS Lys Line and Fred Olsen.
